Field Survey

At Cooper Aerial Surveys, our Field Survey department is well suited to draw on its experienced professional team to produce high quality geodetic data and consistently high quality deliverables .

Our goal is to provide expertise to support surveying and mapping services in any map projection. Together with deliverable options in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and GIS platforms, the client will receive a precision product.  Importantly, this also includes a deep knowledge of the datum definitions associated with coordinate systems in engineering, surveying, and GIS software.  A lack of standardization in datum definitions is perhaps the leading challenge in combining spatial data from a variety of sources and across software packages.  Ensuring that these definitions are both correct and consistent is among our firm’s top priorities. Also, we provide a strong contingent of Certified Federal Surveyors for boundary related projects on Federal Lands.

Cooper Aerial Surveys utilize the latest surveying technology (such as GPS and robotic total stations) to allow use of one-person survey crews that can be mobililized quickly to remote and isolated locations.  Despite the small size of our survey department, we have the capability to field two fully functioning independent crews to different sites simultaneously.  In addition, we utilize stringent and consistent quality control, collection, and processing procedures that in the event a different crew works on a site a past site, the results will be seamless and accurate.

  • We specialize in performing survey work in remote locations, which at times includes areas where communication is extremely difficult (such as the Grand Canyon, isolated mining operations, and isolated rural developments).   We also have experience in accessing remote sites on ATV, helicopter, and, when the need arises, on foot.
  • Both registered land surveyors in our company have performed survey work in Grand Canyon National Park, including the sensitive Colorado River Ecosystem (CRE).  So we have a unique perspective on the importance of performing work in settings where it not only important to maintain high quality but also to protect the environment in which the work is performed.
